Lemon Bottle's side-effect profile is unknown in the formal sense: no controlled safety study of the product has been published, no regulator has reviewed it, and there is no standardized adverse-event reporting for it. What can be said comes from three directions — the commonly reported local effects (swelling, bruising, tenderness, firmness lasting days), the known risks of injecting tissue-disrupting substances into fat, and a specific allergy concern raised by its claimed ingredient list. What the approved comparator's label shows
The best evidence for what injection lipolysis can do to tissue comes from the one product in the category with a full FDA label: deoxycholic acid (Kybella). Its prescribing information warns of marginal mandibular nerve injury (an asymmetric smile or facial-muscle weakness, in reported cases taking up to 298 days to resolve), difficulty swallowing, and — when injections are placed too superficially — skin ulceration and necrosis, with infections severe enough to need IV antibiotics and surgical drainage. In the pivotal REFINE-1 trial, 72% of treated subjects developed bruising or hematoma and 4.3% experienced temporary nerve paresis (Jones et al., Dermatol Surg 2016).
The point is not that Lemon Bottle necessarily does these things — its chemistry is claimed to be different. The point is that dissolving fat with injections is inherently tissue-destructive territory, and the approved product's risks were only discovered because someone ran controlled trials and was required to publish them. For Lemon Bottle, nobody has looked with that rigor.
Injection and procedure risks
Independent of formulation, commonly reported and plausible risks include:
- Swelling, bruising, redness, pain, and tenderness at injection sites — usually short-lived and widely reported after sessions.
- Lumps, nodules, or uneven contour where the product was placed.
- Infection or abscess, particularly with non-sterile technique or non-clinical settings — a real concern for a product frequently administered outside medical supervision.
- Tissue damage or necrosis, nerve injury, and unpredictable reactions to an unverified mixture.
The bromelain allergy question
One claimed ingredient deserves specific attention. Bromelain is a mixture of protein-digesting (proteolytic) enzymes extracted from pineapple (Biotechnol Res Int 2012 review). It is, in other words, a plant protein — and injecting a foreign protein into tissue is a fundamentally different immune exposure from eating it. People with pineapple allergy, and potentially those with latex or certain pollen allergies (which can cross-react with pineapple proteins), have a specific reason for caution that generic "vitamin injection" framing hides. Because the full formulation is undisclosed, an allergic reaction also leaves the treating clinician guessing at the trigger.
Product quality and the undisclosed-formula problem
Grey-market distribution compounds every risk above. Concentrations are unverified, batch-to-batch consistency is unknown, counterfeit product has been a documented concern for viral aesthetic injectables generally, and the manufacturer — selling a cosmetic, not a licensed medicine — is not required to publish a complete ingredient list or stability data. The practical consequence is the one worth remembering: if a complication occurs, the person treating it cannot know exactly what was injected.
