Overview
Cardiogen is sold as the cardiac member of the organ-branded peptide series from the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology. Vendors state a four-residue sequence for it. We cannot confirm one.
Neither indexed paper about this compound prints its amino acid composition, and — unlike Cartalax, Livagen, Pancragen, Prostamax, Vilon, Pinealon and Epitalon — it has no US National Library of Medicine substance record defining it. On a page that never publishes an unverified structure, that leaves a blank.
Mechanism of action
The proposed action is the family hypothesis: a very short peptide reaching the nucleus and shifting which genes are read. The only cardiac experiment used organotypic explants of rat myocardium, where at 10-12 M Cardiogen increased proliferation in tissue from both 3-month-old and 24-month-old animals and reduced p53 protein expression ( Chalisova et al., Adv Gerontol 2009, in Russian). A picomolar effect in an explant says nothing about a beating heart.
Indications and use context
There is no approved use. Heart failure, arrhythmia, hypertension and ischaemic disease all have therapies with mortality data behind them; nothing of that kind exists here.
Anti-doping status
No entry for Cardiogen appears on the WADA Prohibited List.
Category S0 reaches any pharmacological substance without current approval by a government health authority for human therapeutic use. An unnamed compound is not a cleared one; tested athletes should route the question through their anti-doping organisation.
Safety and side effects
Published safety information amounts to nothing, and here that is uncomfortable rather than merely unsatisfying. The second of the two papers naming this compound reports that injected Cardiogen produced haemorrhagic necrosis and raised apoptosis inside M-1 sarcoma in senescent rats, an effect the authors attributed to action on the tumour's vascular network ( Levdik & Knyazkin, Bull Exp Biol Med 2009). Whatever one makes of that finding, a substance reported to act on blood vessels in vivo is not a substance with a documented safety profile.

With the structure itself unconfirmed, there is no basis for discussing metabolism, exposure or a dose. This page gives no amounts, schedules or routes.

Searching PubMed for "Cardiogen" is misleading: dozens of records come back, but nearly all concern cardiogenic shock and cardiomyopathy and simply contain the letters. Filter for peptide work and the file collapses to the two 2009 studies above, both in Russian-published journals, neither followed up.
Frequently asked questions
What is Cardiogen's peptide sequence? We do not publish one, because we could not verify one. Sellers quote a four-amino-acid string, but the indexed literature never prints it and the National Library of Medicine holds no substance record for the compound.
Has it been tested in people with heart disease? No — not in a trial, a case series, or a registry. The word "cardiac" in its marketing rests on one 2009 experiment in rat heart explants.
Why is the evidence considered weak? Two papers, one collaborating network, no replication by an unaffiliated laboratory, no clinical endpoint anywhere. The problem is not sample size; it is the near-total absence of independent scrutiny.
How is it different from Epitalon or Thymalin? Epitalon has a confirmed sequence and about 140 indexed records; Thymalin is a calf-thymus extract with several hundred. Cardiogen has neither a confirmed structure nor a literature.
